The Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) has been established by all Wabanaki Chiefs and the Governor of Maine. The goals of the TRC are to: find out what happened to Wabanaki people involved in State child welfare; to give Wabanaki people a place to share their stories and have a voice and to give Maine child welfare system suggestions on how it can work best with Wabanaki people.
A Commission Selection Panel is in the process of choosing the five Commissioners. They are asking for the public to nominate people that want to serve on the Commission. Please visit the website at the link below for information about the Commission and for instructions on how to nominate someone for Commissioner. Deadline for nominations is October 1, 2012.
